FilmNation Entertainment announced today that V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin director James McTeigue signed on to helm their upcoming thriller Message from the King, the story of Jacob King, a stranger to Los Angeles who scours the city in order to find out what happened to his missing sister.

McTeigue previously worked with FilmNation Entertainment on the period drama The Raven starring John Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe.
“After working with James on The Raven and then seeing a cut of the film, it was very clear to us that we needed to make his next movie,” FilmNation’s head of production Aaron Ryder said in a release. “We are thrilled to be working with him again.”

Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell, who are currently adapting the Warren Ellis graphic novel Gravel for Legendary Pictures, wrote the script for Message from the King.

In the pipeline from FilmNation are House at the End of the Street starring Jennifer Lawrence, Mud from director Jeff Nichols and F*cking Engaged starring Jessica Biel.
