In Treatment and True Blood cast member Dane Dehaan joined director Derek Cianfrance’s follow-up to his critical hit Blue Valentine.

Variety reported that DeHaan landed one of the major roles in The Place Beyond the Pines, set to begin filming in late July around Schenectady, New York.
Earlier, Ryan Gosling signed on to reunite with his Blue Valentine director for Place Beyond the Pines, about a professional motorcycle rider who takes to bank robberies in order to provide for his infant son. The Hangover Part II star Bradley Cooper also joined the film in the role of a cop who attempts to stop the robberies.

Actresses Eva Mendes and Greta Gerwig also joined Gosling on the film in supporting roles.

Up next for Dehaan in terms of big screen roles are The Wettest County in the World, about Depression-era bootleggers in Kentucky, co-starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Gary Oldman, and writer/director Josh Trank’s fantasy thriller Chronicle.
