Lionsgate Announces 2013 Release Date for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s THE LAST STAND!
Arnold Schwarzenegger remained committed to jump-starting his acting career post-governor's office and his infidelity scandal and divorce with wife Maria Shriver via his commitment to the Lionsgate western The Last Stand. Schwarzenegger agreed to play what a Lionsgate exec described as a border town sheriff facing a drug cartel leader trying to escape across the Mexican border.
According to Variety, Lionsgate stood by its late September production start and announced a Jan. 18, 2013 release date for the film.

South Korean director Kim Jee-woon, director of the art-house favorites The Good, the Bad, the Weird, I Saw the Devil and A Tale of Two Sisters, signed on to direct The Last Stand with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing.

No word yet on start dates for Cry Macho, a drama by Lincoln Lawyer director Brad Furman and Million Dollar Baby producer Al Ruddy also starring Schwarzenegger.

For Cry Macho, Schwarzenegger signed on to play a veteran horse trainer who tries to please his boss by kidnapping the boss' son from his ex wife.

Fans also continued to cross their fingers that director Justin Lin and producer Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures will soon make announcements regarding a production start date for Terminator 5 so Arnold Schwarzenegger can reprise his iconic role as the killer cyborg.
